Description

Experience Martinique from a different perspective on a traditional Polynesian-style outrigger canoe tour. Departing from Anse à l’Âne, this 3-hour guided adventure combines paddling, breathtaking coastal scenery, rich history, and unforgettable encounters with nature.

Before setting off, your guide Nicolas introduces you to the basics of paddling and explains how to handle the outrigger canoe. His clear instructions allow everyone to join the adventure, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced paddler. Within minutes, teamwork takes over as your group begins its journey across the Caribbean Sea.

First, paddle along the beautiful coastline of Les Trois-Îlets. As you glide across the calm water, admire the lush green hills, volcanic landscapes, and crystal-clear Caribbean waters that make southern Martinique so spectacular.

Your first stop brings you to Ramier Islet, a protected natural site rich in history and biodiversity. Nicolas shares fascinating stories about the island’s wildlife, native plants, geological formation, and military past. From the canoe, you’ll also enjoy excellent views of the coral reef and the vibrant marine life below the surface.

Next, continue toward Anse Bellay, a place of deep historical significance. This peaceful site was once home to a Kalinago village and later became the location of a slave cemetery. As Nicolas recounts its history, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Martinique’s cultural heritage and the people who shaped the island.

Then, head to Anse Mathurin, a secluded beach that you can only reach by boat or hiking trail. Take time to swim in the clear turquoise water, relax on the unspoiled shoreline, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before returning to your canoe.

Finally, paddle back to Anse à l’Âne, now with greater confidence and a stronger sense of teamwork. After returning to shore, everyone helps store the equipment before gathering for a final discussion with Nicolas. It’s the perfect way to end this authentic and memorable experience in Martinique.
