Embark on an exceptional adventure in the heart of Martinique’s tropical forest with the Cascade Couleuvre hike, a must for nature lovers and those seeking escape. Located at the north-western tip of the island, this approximately 3 km round trip walk transports you to a wild, unspoilt environment steeped in history.
The trail begins at Anse Couleuvre, starting from the ruins of an old sugar plantation surrounded by ancient cacao trees, witnesses to Martinique’s colonial past. Very quickly, the path plunges into a dense, humid forest, where lush vegetation envelops you: balisiers, ferns, lianas and tall trees make up a tropical setting. The whole experience is punctuated by birdsong and the gentle murmur of the river that runs alongside much of the trail.
The well-marked trail has a few slippery sections, but remains accessible to anyone in good physical condition. After about an hour and a half of walking, the reward is spectacular: a 120-metre waterfall plunges from a green rock face in an almost unreal setting. It’s the perfect time for a refreshing break, contemplation or photography.
This hike is perfect for active families, lovers of tropical landscapes and anyone who wants to discover another side of Martinique, far from the tourist hotspots. It also provides an opportunity to explore environmental issues such as forest conservation and the richness of tropical ecosystems.

Price: €60 per person – minimum 3 participants (a deposit of €12 is payable in advance. The balance of €48 is payable on site in cash)
