Sailing boat tour at Le Robert

Description

Set off on a sailing day in Robert Bay and discover one of Martinique’s most beautiful lagoons. With a professional skipper on board, explore the islets, white-sand shallows and landscapes of the Atlantic coast.

Thanks to the bay’s calm and sheltered waters, this sailing trip is also suitable for beginners. In addition, you can take part in the sailing manoeuvres if you wish.

Between sailing, swimming, marine wildlife and local heritage, enjoy an authentic eco-tourism experience in Martinique.

A Day of Sailing from Le Robert

Your day begins at 8:30 AM as you board the sailboat. After a short safety briefing, the skipper raises the sails.

Then, let the trade winds carry you across the bay. Enjoy a peaceful sailing experience with minimal engine use. If you wish, your skipper can also introduce you to the basics of sailing and show you how to take part in the main manoeuvres.

As you sail through Robert Bay, discover a variety of landscapes. The route takes you between small islets, mangroves, white-sand shallows and turquoise waters.

Swimming at Îlet Madame

First, stop at Îlet Madame, known for its beautiful white-sand shallows.

Take a swim in the shallow waters and explore the lagoon’s marine life. You may spot tropical fish, starfish, sea cucumbers and sea urchins.

At lunchtime, enjoy a meal in the shade on the islet, with your feet in the sand. Depending on the conditions and the group’s preferences, lunch can also be served on board the sailboat at anchor.

Discovering Îlet Chancel

Next, continue towards Îlet Chancel, one of the best-known sites in Robert Bay. The islet is home to a population of Lesser Antillean iguanas.

Once there, observe this endemic and endangered species in its natural environment. The islet also has an interesting historical heritage.

You can see the remains of a former pottery site and a lime kiln dating back to the 17th century. These remains offer an insight into the history of this part of Martinique.

Sailing Back to Le Robert

Finally, set sail again for the return journey. A small snack is served during this last part of the cruise.

Meanwhile, browse an illustrated guide featuring more than 80 marine species that can be found in Martinique’s waters.

Powered by the trade winds, the sailboat gradually makes its way back to the port and arrives around 4:30 PM. You then finish a full day dedicated to sailing, nature and discovering Martinique.

• Rates: 70€ per adult  (a deposit of 10,50€ is to be paid in advance. The remaining balance of 59,50€ is to be paid on-site, either in cash or by card)
  • 50€ per child under 12 years old  (a deposit of 7,50€ is to be paid in advance. The remaining balance of 42,50€ is to be paid on-site, either in cash or by card)
  • Children under 2 years old: complementary
  • Included:   The sailing boat excursion, the professional skipper and the masks and snorkels renting.
  • Not included: meal and transfers

    • Meal and beverage option: €30 per adult and €20 per child): made with fruits and vegetables from local farmers .
    • Example of a menu (changing according to availability of fresh products):raw vegetables salad as a starter, yam’s gratin, chicken, garden’s fruits and snacks. Drinks: homemade juice, local punches, coffee, still water, sparkling water, beer…. –  Submitted to prior reservation.

• Essentials: bath towel, sunglasses, sunscreen, cap, swimsuit, lycra, windbreaker and water-resistant flip flops, camera, fins, mask and snorkel if you have them.
